Rob Steiner Inc. is a highly personal landscape architecture office specializing in residential garden design.  Principal Rob Steiner graduated from Yale University and Cornell University’s School of Landscape Architecture and applies his formal training to gardens ranging in scale from Zen courtyards to multi-acre estates.  The firm’s stylistic motto is “controlled eclecticism,” and Steiner employs a diverse plant palette that draws from Mediterranean, California native, South African and Australian flora.  Plantings are distinguished for their graphic quality, successional bloom,

subtle modulations of tone and year-round foliage interest.

Steiner is comfortable with a wide range of architecture and is particularly noted for his modern and Mediterranean gardens, but consistently brings a contemporary vision to all his work.  His projects
often feature finely finished concrete, pared-down metal and woodwork and serene fountains. Steiner likes to remind his clients that the original meaning of garden is enclosure, and he tries in all his work to create spaces of privacy, refreshment and reflection.  Born in New York, Steiner has traveled widely and has lived in Los Angeles with his wife and son since 1986.  His work has been featured in numerous magazines and books.
